Creating logos is harder than you might think. I've worked on creating a logo for one of my class assignment a couple of quarters back and just recently I was given another logo assignment. Creating logos for me is really difficult because you don't want the logo to be obvious; however you don't want your logo to give the wrong interpretation either. Here are a couple of logos send by a friend that shows just how interpretations get lost.

I didn't see the misreading of the logo at first until I read what you said about it and I feel bad for whoever is responsible for those logos. It is definitely wiser to get feedback from others when possible to avoid mistakes like these.
